Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to Oak Creek Preserve — a working regenerative cattle ranch, wellness retreat, and community hub in Zolfo Springs, Florida. Below are answers to the most common questions to help you plan your visit.

ABOUT THE PROPERTY

What is Oak Creek Preserve?
Oak Creek Preserve is a 180-acre regenerative cattle ranch and wellness retreat center offering yoga, sound healing, u-pick flowers, beef shares, farm tours, events, and more. We're committed to community, connection, and care for the land.

Can I visit any time?
We are only open to the public during ticketed events or by private appointment. Please check our Events Calendar or follow us on social media for upcoming opportunities.

Do you spray Roundup or other harsh chemicals on your land?
No, we do not. Oak Creek Preserve is committed to regenerative practices. We do not spray Roundup or other synthetic herbicides or pesticides on our land. Instead, we manage our pastures through:

  • Regular mowing throughout the year to control weeds and encourage healthy grass growth

  • Rotational grazing, allowing the land to rest and regenerate

  • Manual weed removal, including hand-pulling or cutting when necessary

Our goal is to support soil health, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability without compromising the land or the health of our animals and guests.

ANIMALS + INTERACTIONS

Can we pet or feed the animals?
Our animals are on a carefully managed routine. While we love sharing them with guests, interactions are only permitted during designated experiences or guided tours. Please do not approach or feed animals unless a staff member invites you to.

Can I bring my pet?
For the safety of our livestock, wildlife, and other guests, no pets are allowed on the property. Service animals are welcome but must remain leashed and under control at all times.

What kinds of animals live at Oak Creek Preserve?
You’ll find heritage-breed Highland cows, braford cattle, porch-loving donkeys, wildlife like deer and gopher tortoise, and even pollinator-friendly bees and butterflies.

U-PICK FLOWER FARM

When is the flower field open?
Our flower fields are open seasonally for u-pick during specific windows. Check our website or social media for dates and availability.

What should I bring for a u-pick visit?
Wear closed-toe shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little dusty. Bug spray is a good idea, too! We provide the cups, clippers, and water for your bouquet.

Are there bees or bugs in the flower field?
Yes — our flower field supports native pollinators like bees and butterflies. Bugs are a natural part of the ecosystem here. We recommend light, breathable long sleeves and natural bug spray. IF someone in your party is allergic to bees and/or wasps, please bring an EpiPen.

YOGA + WELLNESS CLASSES

What kind of yoga do you offer?
We offer trauma-informed, somatic-based yoga and breathwork practices, often outdoors or in our open-air yoga barn. Sound healing and reiki may also be included in special sessions.

Do I need experience to join?
Not at all! Our classes are beginner-friendly and designed to meet you where you are — whether you're new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner.

What should I wear or bring?
Wear comfortable, breathable clothes you can move in. A yoga mat, water bottle, a journal, and small towel are recommended. We have extras on hand if needed.

EVENTS + PAINT PARTIES

What are Paint & See events?
Paint & See is our signature event combining nature-based mindfulness with creative expression. You'll enjoy an easy, instructor-led painting session surrounded by nature.

Do I need painting experience?
Nope! All levels welcome. All supplies are provided.

What happens if it rains during an outdoor event?
We monitor weather closely. Some events may be moved under shelter or rescheduled. In the event of severe weather, we will notify guests of cancellations or rescheduling via email and social media.

WEATHER + PREPAREDNESS

Is there shade or shelter on the property?
Yes — we have shaded areas, open-air barns, and creek-side hammocks, but much of the experience is outdoors. Be prepared for Florida weather: sun, heat, and sudden rain showers.

What’s the rain policy?
Light rain won’t cancel most experiences. Severe weather (thunderstorms, flooding) may cause delays or rescheduling. Watch your email or check our social media for updates.

REFUNDS + CANCELLATIONS

What is your refund policy?
Because our events have limited capacity and require advance preparation, all ticket sales are final and non-refundable. We appreciate your understanding and support of our small, family-run farm.

If you’re unable to attend:
• You may gift or transfer your ticket to a friend—just email us at theoakcreekpreserve@gmail.com with their full name and email address so they can receive event details and complete the required waiver.
• If an event is canceled or postponed by Oak Creek Preserve due to severe weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we’ll offer credit toward a future event of your choice.
  – Please note: Event prices may vary. If the future event is higher in price, you’ll simply pay the difference.

BEEF SHARES + FARM TO FREEZER

How do I buy a beef share?
We sell whole and half steers through our pasture-to-freezer beef program. Visit our [Beef Shares] page for pricing, pickup dates, and ordering details.

Is your beef grass-fed?
Yes. Our cattle are raised on our pastures and finished on grass plus non-GMO grain to help with flavor. No hormones, no antibiotics — just clean, ethically raised beef.

Can I visit the steer before buying?
Absolutely. We welcome buyers to schedule a visit and meet the herd to understand where your food comes from.

GENERAL POLICIES

Is there a waiver required to attend?
Yes. All guests must sign a liability waiver upon registration or arrival. Agritourism comes with inherent risks, and your safety is our top priority.

Are children welcome?
Of course! We’re a family-friendly farm, but children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Some events have age requirements so check ticket information.

Do you host private events or photo shoots?
Yes! We host private yoga sessions, farm experiences, wellness days, retreats, and photoshoots. Please reach out via our Contact Page to inquire.
